A big thank you to Mereana Watene, who helped me to rewrite my 'pepeha' using the Mana Potential framework (left) - reflecting who is standing behind me, beside me and in front of me, whose mana I am kaitiaki. She explained the difference between a pepeha (includes connection to land) and whakapapa (genealogy). She has been really supportive of my placing my whakapapa at the forefront, so that I'm able to introduce myself without a feeling of tokenism as I don't feel a belonging to any one place. I hope that now that I have a permanent place in Northland, this may change.
